Joining the QVVA

The Queensland Vintage Vehicle Association Inc (QVVA) was formed in 1964
and has enjoyed continuous activity ever since.

The objects of the association are –

  1. To assist members in locating, restoring or maintaining their vehicles by acting as a medium for the exchange of parts, ideas and information.
  2. To build a library of information relative to old vehicles.
  3. To encourage and sponsor social activities for members and their families.
  4. To encourage the restoration of vintage vehicle engines and machinery.

Membership Dues

The QVVA offers a single membership class for a family of $60p/a from July each year with a 50% pro-rata for applications after January.
A $40 joining fee applies.

We have listed a series of questions that we are asked in regard to membership so we hope that these will explain what we do as a club and the benefits of being in our club.

Where is QVVA based? QVVA is based on the south-side of Brisbane and we share the Veteran Car Club’s building at 1376 Old Cleveland Rd, Carindale.

How often are meetings held? QVVA General meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month [except December], for the purpose of conducting the ordinary business of the Association. These meetings are held at the Veteran Car Clubrooms, 1376 Old Cleveland Road, Carindale, at 7.30 pm. Vehicle owners, enthusiasts and all interested in the old car movement are welcome.  The Annual General Meeting and election of officers will be held on the fourth Wednesday of July following the July general meeting.

Does QVVA cater for my type of vehicle? QVVA accepts vehicles of all ages, there is no limit to the number of vehicles you may register with the club. Many of our older members use their daily modern vehicle on runs as they enjoy the vintage movement so much, but are no longer able to drive their old vehicles. Everyone is welcome, young or old. Sorry but we do not accept Hot Rods.

How often does QVVA have events? QVVA usually has one driving outing each month. This can be out into the country or even away for a few days. We also have a lot of social events where we like to have a chat with other members, for example monthly dinners at a local club or a lunch time meeting in a park. Events are sent out to all members via electronic media. Many other affiliated clubs hold day and weekend rallies and QVVA club members are more than welcome to attend these to participate and enjoy.

How do I know what and when events are happening within the club?

QVVA has three major forms of providing information to members –

1. Email information deemed of interest to club members.

The website provides contact details, events, club news, items for sale and merchandise.

2. The Vintage News [the clubs magazine] is published monthly except December.

3. Our Facebook page shows pictures of events that the club’s members have attended.

4. Text if we feel that is of utmost important, like cancelation of an event or a meeting change.

In addition you would be more than welcome to come to a club meeting as a guest on the 4th Wednesday of the month starting about 7.30pm.

To qualify for Special Interest Vehicle Scheme "Concessional Registration" for vehicles over 30 years old you shoud review the Queensland Transport Criteria for eligibility. In addition QVVA has produced an additional FAQ with regards to SIVS.

In addition The Rules & By Laws of the QVVA are available for viewing.
